074 N e w f e a t u r e W D W B WM FACTUR-X: ELECTRONIC INVOICING SOLUTION Factur-X is a hybrid electronic invoice format combining a human- readable PDF and an integrated structured XML file, compliant with European standard EN 16931. It is easy for users to read while ensuring automated integration into accounting systems. Factur-X was developed by the French non-profit association FNFE- MPE, and the German association FeRD. Benefit of this new feature in version 2026: Everything is integrated 075 N e w f e a t u r e W D W B WM FACTUR-X: OVERVIEW The Factur-X specification uses an XML file that describes an invoice according to extremely precise standards. This XML file is integrated into the PDF invoice. The advantage is that the Factur-X PDF file is both human-readable and machine-readable. A Factur-X invoice therefore involves the following: • It must be a PDF/A-3 file (archiving standard). • It must include an EN 16931-compliant XML file as an attachment (in a text/xml attachment with the correct role). • It must still be human-readable (it can be a standard invoice template, with no special graphic requirements). Version 2026 supports all these requirements. Benefit of this new feature in version 2026: Invoicing made easy 076 N e w f e a t u r e W D W B WM 5 PROFILES Factur-X defines 5 data profiles (or levels) corresponding to use cases of increasing complexity. These profiles are as follows: • Minimum Contains only essential data: invoice number, date, total amount, seller and buyer identification. • Basic WL (without lines) Adds totals before tax, VAT by rate, but without line-by-line detail. • Basic Add billing lines (description, quantity, unit price before tax). • EN 16931 or Comfort Compliant with the full European standard EN 16931 with all required information (including order references, payment terms, deliveries, etc.). Mandatory for B2G (Business to Government) exchanges in France and Europe. • Extended Allows you to add sector-specific information (e.g., healthcare, energy, etc.). At the time of printing, this profile has not yet been finalized by the association. Version 2026 supports the 4 levels that have already been validated.
